I didn't realise that there was a Step Ladder Convention running as well; if only I'd known, I could have taken one.

welcome back! i've missed you... so i take it the ladders were placeholders for people (maybe photographers?) who'd later occupy them trying to glimpse a celebrity? so did you crash any parties? what does a photographer wear to cannes?
You can't just say that you went to the Cannes Film Festival and not give us the good stuff! Who did you see? Anybody worth noting? More pics??????
Good to be back but, I'm sorry to say, no excitement to report.
Pixie and I were staying not far away and thought we ought to go and have a nose around. She was hoping to see Johnny Depp while I would have been satisfied with Sophie Marceau - both of us were dissappointed.
And the answer is, Snowsparkle, cream linen shirt, blue linen trousers, black socks, proper leather shoes (no flip-flops!) - I bet you wish you hadn't asked now! I think you're right about the ladders, prpbably photographers.
Susan, I've got a photo of a red carpet - not very exciting but beggars can't be choosers.
And, Dad, I've corrected the spelling mistake.
