Captain Cook (and friend)

Lee mentioned James Cook in a comment to one of my postings today and it's just the excuse I needed to reproduce this picture of his statue in Whitby. Thanks, Lee, that's saved me having to fabricate some piece of nonsense to tie it into.

My goodness but that statue must look gorgeous right up close. What lovely colours. Though the gull looks unimpressed.

It's all down to patina again, I reckon, Blues Mama. And when have you seen a gull look impressed?

Maybe JC started big and those low ceilings knocked him down a bit. There is hardly anywhere on HMS Victory that I can stand up (apart from the outsdie decking) so I'd have had a bad time trying to escape the cat - being 6'3" doesn't help.
